I'm also wondering when this took place because there is so much debate about allowing immigrants into the United States. I wonder if this story was taking place now, if these people would be welcomed like they were.
I wonder if the reason makes a difference. Maybe because they HAD to leave to escape, that's why they were welcomed. Mrs. Rock
